Lewis Hamilton came out on top during FP3 at Monza, with a quickest time of 1.24.578.
The Brit edged out crowd favourite Fernando Alonso by 0.001 of a second, to complete his second Practice win of the weekend.
Paul di Resta snuck into the top three, showing the power of the Mercedes engine on the high-speed circuit.
Felipe Massa and Jenson Button just missed out on the top three, but both showed encouraging pace ahead of qualifying.
Nico Rosberg, Sergio Perez, Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Hulkenberg and Pastor Maldonado completed the top ten, with both Red Bulls, again, failing to impress, ending the hour-long session in 11th and 12th.
For the first time in quite a while FP3 had a relaxed feel, as teams up and down the grid benefited from the non-stop Italian sunshine this weekend.
Instead of making up for lost time, the morning was used to make last minute adjustments ahead of qualification, which should make for a competitive afternoon session.
The quickest times were consistently shared between McLaren and Ferrari, but Perez did show the potential of the Sauber.
Sebastian Vettel suffered with electrical issues late on, which will give the Red Bull camp a headache ahead of today’s big session.
The focus now turns to qualification, with the McLarens and Ferraris clear favourites to occupy the front two rows.
