Both Mercedes impressed once more, coming in fifth and seventh fastest, separated by Rred Bull’s Sebastian Vettel.
Kimi Raikkonen and Kamui Kobayashi also made ito Q3, and will begin tomorrow’s race seventh and eighth repectively, thanks to di Resta’s penalty.
Mark Webber dopped out of Q2, as he came in fractionaly slower than Raikkonen. He was joined by Pastor Maldonado, who will actually start 22nd on the grid, thanks to a double penalty suffered at Spa.
Sergio Perez, Bruno Senna, Jerome d’Ambrosio and both Toro Rossos also dropped out in Q2.
The big shock of Q1 came courtesy of Nico Hulkenberg. The German’s Force India has looked competative all weekend so far, but mechanical failure on his first flying lap means he will start the race in last place.
Alongside Hulkenberg, the usual suspects dropped out in Q3, but there was some good news for Narain Karthikeyan who outqualified his teammate for the first time this season.
