The Top FIVE Drivers – Japanese Grand Prix

This year’s has seemingly played a key role in the Drivers’ Championship. had been convincingly topping the standings prior to Sunday’s event, leading second place by 29 points.

However, like at Spa, disaster struck for the Ferrari driver as he was involved in a first corner incident. The Spaniard’s first lap retirement opened the door to Championship contenders , and Vettel. But could anyone capitalise on Alonso’s accident?

The first corner was full of drama that saw the two-lap deployment of a safety car and in the chaos of the opening minutes, the grid was largely muddled. This allowed some drivers to come right through the field early on, and for others, meant that their work in qualifying became redundant.

Red Bull dominated the Saturday sessions, would they have the same joy in Sunday’s race? And how would home favourite fare from third on the grid?
