The Formula One calendar has expanded over the years, now with 20 races during an eight-month-long season. This year’s penultimate event will see the debut of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, which follows on just 12 months after the introduction of the Indian Grand Prix in New Delhi.
It seems to be a time for change, particularly in terms of new and innovative racetracks. However, over the 62 years that the Formula One World Championship has taken place, there have been some amazing venues that the best drivers in the world have battled around.
A lot of these tracks have fallen by the wayside since their introduction and now tracks have to really provide interesting and entertaining spectacles in order to guarantee hosting future races.
In some instances – like the British and German Grand Prix – tracks have had to share an event and have hosted races in alternate years. Although in some cases – like the Mexican and Argentinean Grand Prix – the events have been removed from the racing calendar completely.
