Domenicali: Massa Knows How To Save Ferrari Career

Despite many areas of the media suggesting that ’s time with is all but finished, team principle, , believes the Brazilian can still prove he’s worth a new deal.

Massa has been rather disappointing during the course of the last two season, and rumours have been circulating that the Italian team could cut their driver loose ahead of the 2013 season.

However, Domenicali believes that he can still prove himself, and that if he does so, his Ferrari career could continue.

“I think Felipe knows (what he has to do),” Domenicali told AUTOSPORT.

“He needs to maximise the performance that he can because we need his capabilities behind the wheel. We need points to try to attack first place in the constructors’ championship, and also to take away points from the other drivers in the drivers’ championship.

“He knows that he has in front of him some very important races for him as a driver and also as a team member for Ferrari.”

Despite holding a 40 point lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship, Ferrari sit behind their main rival in fourth spot in the team Chmpionship.

This is due, in part to Massa’s contribution, as the number two has notched up a meagre 25 points.

But, Domenicali believes it’s not all the drivers fault, and that the team must assist their man.

“We need to improve the car and I’m sure he can do a good job.”
