Ferrari have long been the most famous brand in Formula One, with their legendary red machines blazing to glory, and leaving the rest of the field in their wake.
However, the past few seasons have seen the ‘Scuderia’ slip behind the likes of McLaren and Red Bull, whose driver line-ups have consistently picked up the lion’s share of the points. Ferrari dominated the Constructors’ standings through the early 2000’s with Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello forming a formidable pairing, helping the team to six consecutive Championships.
The break-up of this partnership has coincided with a drop in fortunes for the Italian outfit, who have claimed the ultimate team prize on only two occasions since 2004.
This has led to early speculation surrounding who will be filling the seats for the 2013 campaign, as Stefano Domenicali’s team look to once again establish themselves as F1’s dominant force. With his contract running until 2016, Fernando Alonso’s future looks to be secure, but the same cannot be said of his partner Felipe Massa who has, in recent times, struggled to keep pace with his teammate.
