Williams are reportedly weighing up many options for their 2013 drivers’ seats.
Both Bruno Senna and Pastor Maldonado are not under contract for next season and both are under pressure to keep their place.
Aside from his stunning win in the Spanish Grand Prix, Maldonado has struggled, often finding himself the subject of criticism for his driving style.
Meanwhile Senna has been consistent, but has failed to produce any memorable displays.
Tot Wolff, executive director of the team, has stated that that no decision has been made, and that there are are many candidates out there:
“(An announcement) is going to be this year, but we don’t know about the timing yet because we want to concentrate on this season and focus on our current drivers – that’s important,
“There are many options that we are looking at at the moment and it’s not an easy one.”
“It’s a very tough decision. First of all we have been working with those guys for quite some time and of course that influences the decision a lot. It is about weighing up short-term and long-term options and sometimes the best short-term option isn’t the best long-term option.”
It is rumoured that reserve driver Valtteri Bottas is set to step up to a race seat, whilst the likes of Heikki Kovalainen and Charles Pic have been suggested by some media outlets.
